Stewart came to me at the beginning of 2022 with the goal of competing in Men’s Physique and stepping on stage for the first time that year. Stewart came from background of CrossFit training, but it was time for a bit of change with his training. We had initially discussed competing at a later date, towards the end of 2023, but we changed to compete in 2022 to gauge whether bodybuilding would be something Stewart would want to pursue in the future.
We commenced a very short gaining phase followed by an 18 week prep for the UKDFBA Southern Counties show in September. Stewart brought a phenomenal package to a very competitive and stacked lineup for his first showing and importantly he discovered a new passion for the sport. As a coach this is a top priority, of course we should be striving for a placing but if we come out of prep absolutely hating the journey there’s no point of prepping in the first place and natural bodybuilding is all about playing the long game.
We came out of prep with plenty of data to take us into an off season and guiding him through a very successful rebound out of prep, we are now in a very good spot holding the same weight as we got up to in his 2022 off season with much better conditioning. We still have another 7 months of gaining too and that will land us in the perfect position for Stewart’s 2024 Season. I’m incredibly proud of the work Stewart has put in and I’m excited to be part of his journey in 2024!
